Solving your R&D design dilemmas

The company was founded by Keith Davies, a naval architect and qualified boatbuilder. After graduating as a naval architect from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Keith spent two years doing research into the finite element analysis of composite spars before enrolling at the International Boatbuilding Training College (IBTC) in Suffolk in the U.K. After graduating from the IBTC, Keith returned to Cape Town in 1996 and has since accumulated a wealth of experience in general naval architecture, boat and yacht design and building, ranging from detailed joinery design, construction and installation to finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics.

Naval Architecture

We offer complete and comprehensive Naval Architecture services from initial concept to sea trials and stability.

Structural Engineering & Analysis

We use a wide variety of specialist analytic tools to solve specific problems and to create effiecent designs.

Performance Prediction & Optimization

Using a Velocity Prediction Program, we are able to directly compare a 'fleet' of boats to assses the significance of particular features or variations in design or setup.

Research & Development

Every project we take on goes through a comprehensive research process and is developed to meet the highest standards in order to provide complete customer satisfaction.

KD Marine offers comprehensive design services including: 3D modelling, rendering, hull design, structural design and presentation.

Customer Support

During the build and once a design has been completed, we offer ongoing consulting services to ensure the boats we design are always the best that they can be.
